Born in Basel, Switzerland, Urs Schmidt is a graphic designer and illustrator.

After graduating in graphic design at the Ecole cantonale des Beaux-arts et
des arts appliqués in Lausanne, he furthers his education as a graphic designer
and illustrator at the New York School of Visual Arts.

Following his return to Switzerland, he develops his own visual language,
which combines elegantly photography, graphic design and typography.

The images are called photo-graphics, in reference to the techniques used, photography and graphic design.

Urs Schmidt’s photo-graphics images have been published in Europe and in
the USA.

He is also renowned for his work in the fields of both corporate identity and corporate publishing with his company urs schmidt design.

Initially, the images called photo-graphics were made with traditional material and
a film photography equipment.

This practical experience has then been transferred to the new digital environment
where various elements are combined to produce a final image.
